North Korean athletic delegation for Daegu Universaide leaves Monday for Pyongyang

Daegu City decided Monday to establish a Memorial Hall, to commemorate the successful hosting of both the 2003 Daegu Universiade Games and the 2002 World Cup.

City officials said that the memorial hall will be built next to the main World Cup Stadium.

In related news, the North Korean athletic delegation to the Daegu Universaide left Monday morning for Pyongyang, winding up their 13-day stay in the South.

Ahead of the departure, Chang Jong-nam, head of the North Korean athletic delegation, expressed in a statement his thanks to the International University Sports Federation and Daegu citizens and other southern brethren for their support.

During the games period, athletes from the two Koreas were united until the very last moment, waving the "Korean Peninsula Flag" together at the closing ceremony of the 11-day event.

Athletes of the two Koreas received International Fair Play Awards from the International University Sports Federation (FISU) just before the closing ceremony Sunday evening.
