The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index(KOSPI) on Monday gained 24-point-67 points, or one percent, closing the day at two-thousand-484-point-12.

The tech-heavy KOSDAQ also rose, gaining 18-point-47 points, or two-point-13 percent to close the day at 884-point-27. 

The rises can be attributed to eased concerns regarding North Korean risks and expectations for planned summit talks between the North and the U.S. 

On the foreign exchange, the local currency strengthened four-point-six won against the dollar, ending the session at one-thousand-65-point-two won.
