The government will hold a joint briefing with related ministries Thursday to announce a set of special measures on youth employment.
This briefing is a follow-up to President Moon Jae-in's call for job creation measures at a Cheong Wa Dae meeting in late January.
The president called for emergency funds to create jobs over the next three to four years as a sharp inflow is expected to enter the labor market.
Finance Minister Kim Dong-yeon on Friday expressed his resolve to mobilize all possible policy means for the task. He said that drawing up a supplementary budget and revising tax rules will not be ruled out in order to tackle the issue of youth unemployment.
The set of measures to be announced next week is expected to include direct support such as tax breaks and cash aid for young job seekers.
The measures will also likely include ways to create youth employment among a larger number of players including small firms, startups, overseas firms and new growth sectors in the service industry.
