Seoul says enough efforts have been made in advance to arrange talks between Washington and Pyongyang.
Unification Minister Cho Myoung-gyon made the remark during a meeting of the National Unification Advisory Council in Incheon on Friday, dismissing concerns that the South may be in too much of a hurry on the issue of inter-Korean ties and North Korea's denuclearization.
Cho said that since the beginning of this year, efforts related with an inter-Korean summit and a summit between the U.S. and the North have been steadily made.
His remarks have triggered speculation that the two Koreas and the U.S. have been conducting closed-door discussions regarding the possible summits.
Noting that it is only the beginning stage for discussions on inter-Korean ties and the North Korean nuclear issue, Cho said the South will continuously make calm and cautious efforts.
