S. Korea to Launch Support Team for Inter-Korean Summit

The Unification Ministry says it will soon launch a special team to support the inter-Korean summit slated for late-April.

Deputy spokesperson Lee Eugene made the remark during a regular briefing Friday, answering reporters' questions on the status of preparations for the South-North summit.

Lee said it hasn’t been confirmed whether the two Koreas will exchange information via the hotline running through the Panmunjeom truce village.

On the two Koreas not marching together at the opening ceremony of the PyeongChang Winter Paralympics, the spokeswoman said that the South and North both feel the necessity to include Korea's easternmost islets of Dokdo in the unified Korean flag.

She was quick to add, however, that as the host of the Winter Games, South Korea has taken part in discussions on arrangements for the games from the perspective of respecting the decisions by the International Olympic Committee and International Paralympic Committee(IPC).

Lee then said that the South and North are set to make separate entrances in the Paralympics' opening ceremony as they have failed to reach a middle ground.

Earlier on Thursday, South Korea took the position that it wants to use the flag without Dokdo in accordance with the IPC’s recommendation not to politicize sporting events while North Korea insisted that the unified flag should show Dokdo.
