S. Korea to Discuss US Steel Tariffs in KORUS FTA Talks

Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Paik Un-gyu says that South Korea will discuss the new U.S. tariffs on steel imports during the ongoing renegotiations of the Korea-U.S. free trade agreement(FTA).

The ministrer on Friday told reporters in Seoul that the government plans to discuss the matter in the planned FTA talks to minimize the country's damages from the new tariffs.

Seoul and Washington are set to hold a third round of negotiations this month aimed at revising the bilateral trade deal.

U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday signed proclamations that will impose tariffs of 25 percent on steel and ten percent on aluminum imports.
