South Korea's presidential office says North Korean leader Kim Jong-un is well aware of President Moon Jae-in’s peace initiative for the two Koreas.
In a meeting with reporters on Thursday, an official of the top office disclosed observations of Kim that were made by the president’s special envoys during their meeting in Pyongyang earlier this week.
Moon announced the initiative, known as the Berlin Initiative, in the German capital last July, in which he outlined his vision to improve inter-Korean ties, including proposals for inter-Korean talks.
The official assessed that the six-point agreement announced by the special envoys upon their return to the South on Wednesday, including on holding an inter-Korean summit next month, were the outcome of President Moon’s accumulated efforts and Kim’s mature deliberations .
According to the official, Kim also knew about how he is presented by South Korean and foreign media outlets.
During the Monday’s meeting, Kim was said to have even joked about his international image and led the talks in a relaxed manner.
