N. Korean Media Keeps Quiet about S. Korean Envoy's Press Statement

North Korea's official media outlets are not reporting on Tuesday night's press announcement by South Korea's special envoys following their two-day visit to Pyongyang.

The media outlets, including the Korea Central News Agency and the Rodong Shinmun, have yet to report on the nationally-televised briefing by the envoys who said an inter-Korean summit would be held in late April and that North Korea has expressed its will on the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

This is in contrast to the outlets' unusually prompt reporting on Monday of the meeting and dinner between the envoys' and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

Observers say the absence of the follow-up report may be because of concern that it could spark confusion among North Koreans.

The presidential office explained the revelation of the comprehensive agreement had been approved in advance by the North Korean leadership.
