S. Korean Presidential Envoys Return from N. Korea

President Moon Jae-in’s special envoys have returned to South Korea from a rare trip to North Korea.

The South Korean delegation, led by the head of the presidential National Security Office Chung Eui-yong, arrived at the Seoul Airport in Seongnam, south of Seoul, at 5:58 p.m. on Tuesday ending a two-day visit to Pyongyang.

It's said that during their talks with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un that lasted over four hours on Monday, the two sides discussed pending issues on the Korean Peninsula, including the North's denuclearization, the prospect of talks between Washington and Pyongyang and ways to improve inter-Korean ties.

Attention is being paid to what the North Korean leader said about his country's denuclearization and whether the two sides discussed an inter-Korean summit he proposed through his sister during her visit to the South last month for the PyeongChang Winter Olympics.

An official at South Korea's presidential office said discussions "weren't disappointing" and produced results, but declined to elaborate. However, the official said there appears to have been an agreement.
