President Moon Jae-in's chief security adviser Chung Eui-yong, who will lead a delegation to North Korea, said he will convey the president's firm determination for denuclearization and the establishment of permanent peace on the Korean Peninsula.
Speaking to reporters at the presidential office ahead of his departure to the North on Monday, Chung said he will build on the momentum for inter-Korean talks and an improvement in relations created by the PyeongChang Winter Olympics.
He said that he plans to discuss ways to continue dialogue not only between the two Koreas, but also between the North and the U.S. as well as with the international community.
The delegation of special envoys will depart for their two-day trip to the North from Seoul Airport in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province at 2 p.m. Following a meeting with high-level North Korean officials, they plan to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and deliver a letter from President Moon.
