Gov't Task Force to Help Gunsan Deal with GM Shutdown

The government has formed a task force to assist Gunsan's economy as it reels from a recent shipbuilding industry crisis and the planned shutdown of a General Motors(GM) assembly line.

The Ministry of Strategy and Finance said on Wednesday that the task force, created in the wake of the American automaker’s decision to shutter its factory in the western port city, will hold meetings with related ministry officials whenever necessary.

It will be spearheaded jointly by the vice ministers of the ministry and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and include the vice ministers of other ministries.

In addition to sharing information about related developments in the GM situation, the task force will also work to come up with solutions.
