Anchor: After a missed opportunity for a meeting between U.S. Vice President Mike Pence and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's sister Kim Yo-jong, key figures from Washington and Pyongyang will again converge in Pyeongchang. U.S. President Donald Trump's daughter, Ivanka, and Kim Yong-chol, who leads Pyongyang's South Korea policy, will both attend the closing ceremony of the Winter Games.

Report: North Korea will send a high-level delegation to the PyeongChang Winter Olympics' closing ceremony.

Seoul's Unification Ministry said it was notified by the North on Thursday that Kim Yong-chol, head of the United Front Department, which is in charge of inter-Korean affairs, will visit South Korea on Sunday leading the delegation for a three-day trip.

The top office said President Moon Jae-in will meet with the delegation at a natural opportunity.

The visit will coincide with a four-day trip to South Korea by U.S. President Donald Trump's daughter, Ivanka, who will arrive on Friday leading the American delegation to the closing ceremony.

The presidential office confirmed the trip on Thursday and said she will have dinner with Moon on the day of her arrival.

After media reports that U.S. Vice President Mike Pence had agreed to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's sister Kim Yo-jong at the opening ceremony of the Olympics, but the North pulled out at the last minute, it remains to be seen whether the two sides will make contact at the games.

Asked by reporters if the top office will make efforts for an encounter between the U.S. and the North, a senior presidential official said there will be no such opportunity. The official said there was an attempt previously, but both sides returned home aware of the current situation.

Regardless of a meeting, their participation at the Winter Games is expected to create a favorable atmosphere in leading to a dialogue between Washington and Pyongyang, which has been suggested by Moon as key to holding an inter-Korean summit.
