S. Korea's Producer Prices Up in January

South Korea's producer prices rose at the fastest pace in four months in January, as the prices of farm products surged with the cold weather.

According to the Bank of Korea on Wednesday, the producer price index -- a barometer of future consumer inflation -- came to 103-point-50 last month, up point-four percent from a month earlier.

It is the fastest growth since September last year, when producer prices increased point-seven percent.

Producer prices of farm and fishery products rose two-point-five percent last month. Farm products in particular jumped eight-point-seven percent, the largest gain since August last year, when they soared 14-point-two percent.
