The government says nothing has been decided so far on the possibility of sending a special envoy to North Korea.
Asked if there is a plan to dispatch a special envoy to North Korea, Unification Ministry Spokesman Baik Tae-hyun said Monday that the government has not formed a position yet and that its stance is likely to be coordinated through consultation among relevant ministries.
After a high-level North Korean delegation, including the sister of leader Kim Jong-un, visited the South this month for the PyeongChang Winter Olympics, many are wondering if Seoul will send over a special delegation in return.
On when the North Korean cheering squad would return home, Baik said the two governments are continuing to negotiate the timing, adding that the cheerleaders are likely to go back after the closing ceremony of the PyeongChang Games.
