Samsung Engineering Signs Contract for Oman Refinery Project

Samsung Engineering announced on Monday that it clinched a formal contract for a project on building key facilities for an oil refinery in Oman worth one-point-one trillion won.

The move comes as the South Korean company and Britain’s PETROFAC secured last year a two-point-two trillion won contract for a 50/50 joint venture at the Duqm Refinery, located 550 kilometers south of Muscat.

The two companies were awarded the utilities and offsites(U&O) package out of three packages for building the refinery that will have a capacity of 230-thousand barrels per day when construction is completed in 2021.

The U&O contract is made up of a utility production facility that produces water, air, steam and electricity essential to the plant, a tank that stores crude oil before and after refining, and a sewage treatment facility.
