North Korea’s Rodong Sinmun has reiterated that the United States will be responsible if the mood for improving inter-Korean relations and easing tensions is shattered.
In a commentary issued on Monday, the official newspaper of the North’s ruling Workers’ Party said it is the U.S.’ goal to end the mood for a thaw in South-North relations once the PyeongChang Olympic flame goes out.
The report claimed that the U.S. is yapping that it will resume the Key Resolve and Foal Eagle joint military exercises with South Korea once the Winter Games are over.
The paper said every time a mood for improved inter-Korean ties or easing of tensions surfaced on the Korean Peninsula, the U.S. put a damper, claiming that it is the U.S. that is raising tensions on the peninsula and hampering Korean unification.
The report said signs of mounting tension are again emerging, claiming that a large amount of strategic assets and military forces are making their way toward the peninsula and surrounding regions.
