S. Korea to File Complaint with WTO on US Safeguard Measures

Trade Minister Kim Hyun-chong says that South Korea will file a complaint with the World Trade Organization(WTO) in March against the U.S.’ decision to slap heavy anti-dumping duties on Korean washing machines and solar panels.

The minister made the remark on Monday before the parliamentary committee on trade, industry, energy, SMEs and startups.

Kim said that the government originally planned to file the complaint in February, but it was delayed as related negotiations with the U.S. were under way.

He added that if the WTO should rule in favor of South Korea and the U.S. does not respect the ruling, South Korea will impose retaliatory tariffs on imports from the U.S.
