CNN says there is a strong possibility that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's younger sister will invite President Moon Jae-in to visit North Korea when she meets him on Saturday.
Quoting a number of diplomatic sources, CNN said Friday that there is a "good chance" Kim Yo-jong will invite Moon to visit Pyongyang "sometime this year.”
While saying nothing has been finalized, the sources pointed at August 15th as a potential date for Moon’s visit. Both Koreas celebrate the day for their liberation from Japan’s colonial rule.
The sources also said Moon's luncheon for the North’s high-level delegation on Saturday will be held informally, giving room for the North Koreans to avoid any protocol format where only one main speaker has a voice.
Sources said “an informal luncheon would give Kim Yo-jong more freedom to interact with the South Koreans than anybody else in the North Korean delegation.”
