N. Korean Art Troupe Heads to Seoul for Second Concert

A North Korean art troupe will head to Seoul on Friday to prepare for its second concert on Sunday to celebrate the PyeongChang Winter Olympics.

The 140-member Samjiyon Orchestra led by North Korean pop icon Hyon Song-wol performed in Gangneung, the sub-host city of the Olympics, on Thursday.

The troupe will hold its second and final performance at the National Theater of Korea in Seoul on Sunday.

The performers had been staying in North Korea’s Mangyongbong-92 ferry, which has been anchored at the eastern South Korean port of Mukho since arriving in the South on Tuesday.

When the performers depart for Seoul, the ferry will reportedly return to North Korea and the performers will stay at the Walkerhill Hotel in Seoul.
