KOSDAQ Surges 3.85% on Thursday

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index(KOSPI) on Thursday rose eleven-point-06 points, or zero-point-46 percent, recovering slightly from Wednesday's losses. The KOSPI closed the session at two-thousand-407-point-62.

Meanwhile, the tech-heavy KOSDAQ jumped 31-point-98 points, or three-point-85 percent, closing at 841-point-94.

The secondary bourse, at one point during the day's trading, surged six-percent above the previous day's close, as foreign and institutional investors snapped up retail and pharmaceutical stocks.

Regulators enforced a five-minute “sidecar" to restrain rapid market fluctuation, at around 2 p.m, marking the second time this year that the measure was implemented.

On the foreign exchange, the local currency weakened one-point-three won against the dollar, closing at one-thousand-87-point-nine won.
