N. Korea's Art Troupe, Cheering Squad Set to Arrive in S. Korea This Week

North Korea's art troupe, cheering squad and reporters will visit South Korea early this week for the Winter Olympics in PyeongChang set to open on Friday.

The 140-member Samjiyon Orchestra will cross the border through the Gyeongui overland route on Tuesday.

The troupe's first performance will be held at the Gangneung Arts Center on Thursday on the eve of the Olympics, followed by a concert at the National Theater of Korea in Seoul next Sunday.

An advance team comprising of technicians will arrive on Monday to prepare for the concerts.

The North will send a cheering squad, a taekwondo demonstration team and reporters on Wednesday, who will also cross into the South via the western land route.

The 230-member cheering squad will reportedly cheer for North Korean athletes competing in their games and the joint inter-Korean ice hockey team's games, as well as some of South Koreans athletes' matches.

The 28-member taekwondo demonstration team will hold four joint demonstrations with South Koreans and return home on February 15th.
