Taekwondo athletes from South and North Korea will stage a joint performance in Seoul next month.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government said on Wednesday that the taekwondo demonstrations involving two teams from the South and North respectively will be held at Seoul City Hall between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on February 12th.
The capital’s government said the performances are being arranged at the request of the Seoul-based governing body of the sport, World Taekwondo(WT), which suggested an inter-Korean performance be held in the heart of Seoul.
The WT will field a team for the day’s performances, while the other team will likely consist of 34 North Korean athletes who will be accompanied by North Korean officials, including Ri Yong-son, the president of the Pyongyang-based International Taekwondo Federation.
The two teams will perform for 25 minutes each before putting on a joint performance for ten minutes.
