VOA: Huge Crowd Detected at N. Korea's Kim Il-sung Square

More satellite pictures have emerged showing that North Korea appears to be preparing for a massive military parade to commemorate the new founding anniversary of its army.

Voice of America(VOA) said Tuesday that satellite pictures taken by imagery provider Planet at 11:24 a.m. last Sunday show a large crowd forming a red wave at Kim Il-sung Square in Pyongyang. The pictures also showed three yellow letters in the middle of the wave.

Pictures taken at 10:17 a.m. and 10:56 a.m. on Sunday also showed a huge crowd gathered at the square. However, there were no yellow letters in these pictures and the crowed seemed to have shrunk both in the front and back, suggesting that the crowd was in motion.

The square had been empty in pictures taken last Saturday.

North Korea appears to be preparing for a ceremony to mark the newly designated founding anniversary of its military forces next Thursday, a day before the opening of the PyeongChang Winter Olympics.

Pyongyang previously celebrated the occasion on April 25th, which is when the North's founder Kim Il-sung is said to have established the predecessor to the Korean People's Army during Japan's colonial rule of Korea.
