The government is aiming to further slash mobile communication data fees this year. 

In a policy briefing at the Sejong Convention Center Wednesday, Minister of Science and ICT You Young-min said the ministry is seeking to lower such data fees to an average four-point-29 won per megabyte this year. That represents a fall of 18 percent from 2017.

Such fees stood at five-point-96 won per megabyte in 2016 and five-point-23 won last year.

The reduction is subject to legislative review.
