S. Korean Ramyeon Exports Hit Record High in 2017

South Korea’s exports of instant ramyeon noodles have hit a record for a third consecutive year.

According to the Korea Customs Service on Tuesday, 380 million dollars worth of  ramyeon were exported last year, marking a 31-point-two percent spike from a year earlier.  

In comparison, South Korea's ramyeon imports only reached three-point-eight million dollars.

Since shipments of instant noodles hit 219 million dollars in 2015, the country has been surpassing its all-time high record every year. 

China was the biggest importer of ramyeon noodles, accounting for 27-point-one percent of exports last year. 

The United States came in second at ten-point-eight percent, followed by Japan at six-point-seven percent, Taiwan at five-point-five percent and Thailand at five percent.
