IOC: 12 N. Korean Players to Join Unified Ice Hockey Team

South and North Korea will field a unified ice hockey team at the PyeongChang Winter Olympics, with 12 North Korean players joining South Korea's 23-member team.

International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach said on Saturday that the unified women's ice hockey team will comprise 35 players, but only 22 of them can actually compete in the games like other countries.

The unified team will be headed by South Korean woman’s national ice hockey team coach Sarah Murray and participate in the Olympics as "Korea."

Traditional Korean folk song "Arirang" has been decided as the national anthem.

The IOC chief released these results of a four-party meeting of Olympic and government officials from South and North Korea in Lausanne, Switzerland on Saturday.
