A military communication channel on the western side of the border that will be used during upcoming inter-Korean military talks is fully up and running.
A South Korean military official said Thursday that they fixed a glitch in the copper cable of the inter-Korean military channel on Wednesday morning.
Seoul and Pyongyang agreed to reopen the channel early this month amid the recent thawing of their relations, but the technical glitch had prevented communication between the two sides.
Seoul's Defense Ministry plans to conduct test communications with Pyongyang using the channel twice a day from Saturday.
The military hotline was installed at the Customs, Immigration and Quarantine Office at Dorasan train station in Paju City, Gyeonggi Province to prevent accidental military clashes.
North Korea had severed the channel in early 2016 after the former Park Geun-hye administration shut down the Gaeseong Industrial Complex.
