The Unification Ministry said Wednesday that North Korea unveiled intentions to also send a delegation to the PyeongChang Paralympic Winter Games that will be held from March ninth.
A ministry official said the North revealed an outline of its plan to send a delegation to the Paralympics during inter-Korean working-level talks under way at the truce village of Panmunjeom.
The official said that the two Koreas, just like for the Olympics, will seek to finalize details for the North’s participation in the Paralympics through consultations with the International Olympic Committee and International Paralympic Committee.
Asked if the North will be sending an art troupe, observers and a high-level delegation to the Paralympics as it will do for the Olympics, the ministry official said that that is unlikely.
On whether the delegation mentioned by the North includes athletes, the official said yes.
