The two Koreas have fully restored a military communication channel on the western border with North Korea.  

The Seoul Defense Ministry said the South Korean military tested the telephone hotline with the North for five minutes from 8 a.m. Wednesday and that it is now working properly. 

North Korea informed the South during Tuesday’s high-level dialogue that it had reopened the western border military communication channel, and the South conducted a preliminary test of the channel later in the day. 

The military hotline was installed at the Customs, Immigration and Quarantine Office at Dorasan train station on the Gyeongui Line in Paju City, Gyeonggi Province to prevent accidental military clashes. 
  
The North had cut off two inter-Korean communication channels, including the western border hotline after the former Park Geun-hye administration shut down the Gaeseong Industrial Complex in February 2016. 

The other one, the Panmunjeom liaison channel, was restored Wednesday of last week as the two Koreas began arranging inter-Korean talks.
