N. Korea Emphasizes Creation of Mood for National Unity

As the two Koreas sat down for rare high-level talks at the truce village of Panmunjeom Tuesday, Pyongyang is calling for the creation of a mood conducive to national unity through its propaganda outlet.

In an article on Tuesday, the North's state-run propaganda outlet, Uriminjokkkiri, claimed the creation of mood for reconciliation and unity is a precondition to improving inter-Korean ties and realizing unification.

The North Korean outlet said it is important for the North and the South to resolve misunderstandings and overcome mistrust between them by increasing bilateral contact, cooperation and exchange.

It then called for the abolition of the laws and institutions that it said block bilateral exchange and intensify confrontation. It also said the two Koreas should guarantee extensive discussions and activities by the people of the two countries.
