As the two Koreas plan for high-level talks on Tuesday, North Korean media outlets are emphasizing inter-Korean reconciliation and unity.
The North's state-run propaganda outlet, Uriminjokkkiri, stated Friday that inter-Korea relations are an internal matter that should be resolved between the North and South. It claimed unification cannot be approached without self-reliance.
Korea Today, a state-run magazine, quoted an official of the North's Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland as saying that although the two Koreas have more mistrust than trust towards each other, they share the same blood and race and can never be divided into two.
Since North Korean leader Kim Jong-un’s New Year's Day address, many North Korean media outlets have joined the chorus calling for inter-Korean cooperation, while denouncing foreign forces.
