Beijing has welcomed the restoration of a communication channel between the two Koreas.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said during a regular briefing Wednesday that China welcomes the moves by South and North Korea to improve their bilateral relationship and ease tensions via the PyeongChang Winter Olympics. 

He said China also supports sincere efforts for the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. 

The spokesman urged concerned parties to take advantage of this positive momentum and move forward by looking at each other, adding China hopes the situation in the region will get back on the track of seeking a peaceful solution through dialogue and negotiations.
