Leading Banks' Lending Rate for Household Loans Surge

South Korea's lending rate for new household loans sharply increased this year along with a surge in the market rates.

​According to the banking industry on Sunday, the lending rate for household loans imposed by the country's five leading commercial banks increased by up to point-55 percentage points this year.

​NH Bank will levy a lending interest rate between three-point-71 to four-point-85 percent on January second.

​The comparable figure for Shinhan Bank has been set between three-point-68 and four-point-79 percent, up point-20 percentage points from a year ago.

​Woori Bank will also raise the rate by point-20 percentage points to three-point-58 and four-point-58 percent.
