Gov't Reports Implementation of UNSC Resolution 2375

South Korea has submitted its implementation report on UN Security Council sanctions passed in September in response to North Korea’s sixth nuclear test that month.

According to the Web site of the UN Security Council Sanctions Committee on North Korea on Saturday, the Seoul government submitted the five-page report on November 29th explaining measures taken by government ministries and agencies to enforce UNSC Resolution 2375.

Seoul stressed that it faithfully implemented all UN sanctions in the report.

The report said the Oceans and Fisheries Ministry has notified related organizations including the Korea Shipowners' Association about the maritime blockade measure allowing a search of cargo ships carrying prohibited goods.

The report also said that North Korean vessels have been banned from South Korean waters since 2010 and that ship-to-ship transfers with North Korean vessels are prohibited.

The South Korean government disclosed Friday that a Hong Kong ship loaded refined oil products from a South Korean port and transferred the goods to a North Korean ship in international waters back in October.

The ship, called the Lighthouse Winmore, has been under investigation since it was seized when it reentered the Port of Yeosu last month.

The report also noted that Seoul's Unification Ministry bans textile imports from North Korea and exports of crude oil and refined oil products to the North.

It added that the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy will revise related measures by this month to reflect the embargo on oil goods and textiles.
