Bank of Korea to Continue Monetary Easing Next Year

South Korea's central bank will continue easing monetary policy next year while being cautious about further interest rate hikes.

The Bank of Korea on Thursday released its annual monetary policy strategy for 2018.

The report noted that the domestic economy is continuing to see a steady pace of growth. However, it projected that there won't be much price inflation from the demand side.

The bank said that it will take growth and price levels into account before deciding on additional adjustments to its monetary policy.

It cited South Korea's high level of household debt, an anticipated interest rate hike in the U.S. and the North Korea nuclear crisis as major risk factors for financial stability.
