The Ministry of Science and ICT on Monday selected 13 innovative growth engines, including artificial intelligence(AI), drones and innovative drugs.
 
Other areas chosen were big data, next-generation communication, self-driving cars, customized health care, smart cities, intelligent robots, advanced materials and new renewable energy.
 
The ministry plans to inject more than one-and-a-half trillion won in the 13 areas next year alone. Through 2022, it plans to invest a total of nearly eight trillion won and create more than 550-thousand jobs by 2025.
 
The government came up with the selection after narrowing down 19 top future growth engines and nine national strategy projects chosen during the previous administration.
