Cargo Processed in Busan Port Tops 20 Mln TEUs

The amount of cargo processed in Busan Port has surpassed 20 million 20-foot equivalent units, or TEUs, for the first time.

The port reached the milestone 39 years after the country's first exclusive container-handling berths were created in 1978.

The Busan Port Authority and the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries will hold a ceremony at 3 p.m. Tuesday to celebrate the achievement at Busan New Port.

Busan Port has become the world's sixth port to reach 200 TEUs, after the ports of Hong Kong, Singapore, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Ningbo-Zhoushan.
