N. Korea Vows to Bolster Nuclear Deterrence for Self-defense

North Korea has vowed to continue to bolster its nuclear deterrence for self-defense in order to achieve a balance of power with the United States and eradicate the U.S. nuclear threats and hostilities.

According to the North's official media Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), the North Korean Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Sunday that the United States once again led the United Nations Security Council to adopt Resolution 2397 over the North's successful launch of Hwasong-15 intercontinental ballistic missile.

The statement is the North's first official response after the Security Council adopted fresh sanctions against the regime on
Saturday.

The North rejected the resolution, calling it a violation of its sovereignty by the United States and its followers and an act of war destroying regional peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.
