Delaying S. Korea-US Military Drills Depends on N. Korea's Actions

A presidential official says the decision to delay joint military drills between South Korea and the United States depends on North Korea's actions.

South Korean President Moon Jae-in had told NBC on Tuesday that he'd suggested postponing the drills until after the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games as a means of improving relations with North Korea and encouraging its athletes to participate.

While the U.S. is said to be considering the proposal, South Korea's presidential office said the North must halt its provocations until the Olympic Games begin.

Another provocation would anger the international community which may be followed by additional UN Security Council sanctions, the official said.
