Gov't Aims to Increase Jobs in Health Industries

The government plans to create 100-thousand jobs in pharmaceutical, medical equipment and cosmetics industries over the next five years.

The Ministry of Health and Welfare’s plan unveiled Wednesday sets an ambitious target of  270-thousand health jobs by 2022.

It aims to increase the number of new medicines developed by Korean industries from three at present to 15 through 2022. It aims to expand the number of new pharmaceutical and bio businesses to more than 11-hundred.

The government hopes to beef up the pharmaceutical industry job count from  from last year's 95-thousand to 140-thousand by 2022

It also says it will foster the introduction of 30 first-of-their-kind medical equipment items onto world markets by 2030.
