S. Korea Asks China to Fairly Conduct Antidumping Probes

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy has asked China’s Ministry of Commerce to conduct its antidumping probe on three South Korean products in a fair manner.

The ministry said on Tuesday that it made the request during South Korea and China’s 17th meeting on trade remedies.

The two countries’ agencies charged with trade remedies have been meeting every year since 2000 to discuss key issues.

Trade remedies are measures taken to eliminate material injury to domestic industries. Such remedies include anti-dumping action, countervailing duty measures and safeguard action.

During the meeting, South Korea conveyed local firms’ concerns over Beijing’s probe on South Korean petrochemical material, styrene monomer,; chemical solvent, methyl isobutyl ketone and synthetic nitrile rubber. It then asked China to evaluate the products fairly and objectively.
