S. Korea's Producer Prices Drop in November

South Korea's producer prices fell for the first time in five months in November due to a cut in gas bills.

According to preliminary data from the Bank of Korea released on Tuesday, the producer price index -- a barometer of future consumer inflation -- stood at 103-point-02 in November, down one tenth of a percent from October.

The index posted its first drop after rising for four straight months since July.

The central bank said that the government reduced natural gas bills by an average nine-point-three percent on November first, which pulled down producer prices by point-15 percentage points last month.

The BOK said that excluding the effect of the reduced gas bills, producer prices actually increased point-05 percent last month from a month earlier.
