Trade Ministry to Report KORUS FTA Plan to Parliament, Wrapping up Domestic Procedures

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy submitted its plan on the renegotiation of the South Korea-U.S. free trade agreement(FTA) to the parliamentary committee on trade and industry on Monday.

The report wraps up the domestic procedures needed for opening negotiations on amendments to the KORUS FTA.

According to trade laws, the government is required to present a detailed report to parliament before starting trade talks, including the goal of the talks, major issues and response plans.

In the report, the ministry said it plans to begin the renegotiation at the end of this year or early next year.
