South Korea's job growth remained sluggish for two straight months and youth unemployment increased in November.
According to data by Statistics Korea on Wednesday, the number of people with jobs stood at 26-point-eight million in November, up 253-thousand or seven tenths of a percent from a year earlier.
The number of employed people increased by more than 300-thousand for six straight months before falling below that mark in August. The figure recovered in September but slipped again in October and November.
It's the first time job growth hovered below the government's target of 300-thousand for two straight months since January this year.
The country's overall employment rate reached 61-point-two percent last month, up point-one percentage point year-on-year.
The unemployment rate for young people, aged between 15 and 29, came to nine-point-two percent, up one percentage point from a year earlier. That's the highest November figure since the nation started compiling related data in 1999.
