North Korean defense industry workers and scientists gathered in Pyongyang for a national meeting with leader Kim Jong-un in attendance.
 
The North's official Korean Central News Agency(KCNA) reported Tuesday that the national meeting brought together scientists and engineers who greatly contribute to the country's defense capabilities, including those who contributed to the successful launch of the Hwasong 15 intercontinental ballistic missile late last month.
 
Speaking at the meeting, senior official of the Workers' Party Tae Jong-su said North Korea has achieved miraculous military progress in a matter of years and became a nuclear power thanks to Kim's great leadership.
 
The official stressed that North Korea must develop and produce more powerful weapons and further enhance its national nuclear force based on its achievements.
