S. Korea to Front-load Two Thirds of 2018 Budget in 1st Half

The Moon Jae-in administration plans to front-load two thirds of next year’s national budget in the first half to build momentum for its income-led economic growth initiative.

The government confirmed the plan during a Cabinet meeting Friday, saying it will spend 68 percent of its 368-point-six trillion won annual expenditure budget in the January-June period.

The Ministry of Strategy and Finance said that in particular, budgets related to job creation will be allocated more intensively over the period, at up to 76 percent, to help create more quality jobs in the public sector and enhance overall job security.
