Presidential Committee on Northern Economic Cooperation Launched

A committee tasked with helping actualize President Moon Jae-in’s “New Northern Policy” for greater cooperation with Eurasia has launched its activities.

After a signboard hanging ceremony at its office in Gwanghwamun in central Seoul Thursday, Chairman Song Young-gil and members of the Presidential Committee on Northern Economic Cooperation attended its inaugural meeting. Related government ministries reported their action plans regarding the president’s initiative.

The committee plans to draft a road  map on northern economic cooperation by April.

During the meeting, Song said the committee will contribute to finding new growth engines for the country while seeking to ease military tensions in the region and usher in the era of joint prosperity for countries involved.
