Samsung Electronics Begins Mass-Production of World's First 512GB eUFS

Samsung Electronics said Tuesday that it has begun mass-production of the world’s first 512 gigabyte embedded Universal Flash Storage(eUFS).

A memory storage vehicle manufactured using NAND flash memory, the eUFS can read and write much faster than the embedded multimedia cards(eMMC) and are thus quickly replacing eMMC as a main memory component of premium smartphones.

The new eUFS product can store up to 130 ten-minute videos in UHD quality, ten times more than the existing 64 gigabyte eUFS product.

In addition, it will enable a five-gigabyte, full high-definition video stored on the smartphone to be transferred to a solid-state drive(SSD) in around six seconds, more than eight times faster than a micro SD card.
