South and North Korean Youth to Compete Together at Regional Sports Event

South and North Korea will compete at an international youth football tournament to be held in Kunming, China later this month.

The South-North Sports Exchange Association said Monday that the Ari Sports Cup tournament for under-15s will take place from December 19th to 22nd, promoting inter-Korean exchange through sports.

The players from both Koreas as well as China will first be split into two groups for the preliminary round, with the top two teams from each group qualifying for the finals.

The tournament this year will be the third of its kind, since the games were first held in 2014 in South Korea's Gyeonggi Province. The second Ari Cup was held the following year in Pyongyang, but the competition was cancelled last year due to tensions between the two Koreas.
