North Korea has disclosed photos of its latest launch of a long-range missile identified by the regime as a newly developed Hwasong-15 intercontinental ballistic missile(ICBM).
The North's official daily Rodong Sinmun on Thursday posted on its homepage about 40 photos showing the preparations, the missile launch and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un observing the launch.
The photos showed the Hwasong-15 ICBM placed on a transport erector launcher, known as a TEL, and soaring into the air. The nose of the Hwasong-15 was shaped differently from the Hwasong-14s, which were launched twice in July. The former looks round and relatively blunt while the latter is sharp.
The North's official Korean Central News Agency(KCNA) reported on Wednesday that North Korea tested the weapon from a new mobile TEL vehicle.
The report said that the test confirmed mobile and hoisting capabilities and the operational reliability of the launching system of the newly developed nine-axis self-propelled launching vehicle.
